“Take the steps as I lay them out for you, son.”

As you read in in my last blog my time living in Laos was quite an interesting month. It was my first time being in a country that was closed to Christianity which was really hard on my stubborn Jesus loving self who just wanted to go pray and reach out to everyone without worrying about getting kicked out of the country. But it was an incredible month none the less. One where I got to see God move in beautiful ways.

By this point in my race I knew for sure that God was calling me to open up a coffee shop one day to do ministry out of. And one day while I was reading my bible He gave me one of the most vivid mental images I’ve ever had and I still remember it like it was yesterday.

In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17

I was standing on this beautiful grassy knoll. The sky was blue as could be with warm rays of sunshine slipping between clouds and a slight breeze that made it just the right temperature. I stepped through this archway of vines and branches into a small grassy area alongside a brook where there were wildflowers in full bloom and 2 yellow butterflies chasing after each other.

In front of me appeared a huge tree that had what was like a doorway carved out going into the very center of what was a completely hollowed out tree. I stepped into the hollow tree when out of nowhere wooden planks started popping up in front of me one at a time as steps going up the center of the tree. I went to go start climbing when an old raggedy rope ladder was presented to me. The rope ladder went all the way to the very top and looked to be a short cut. I started climbing it because I didn’t want to wait for all the planks to be put in place. I got up a few steps on the rope ladder when the ropes snapped and I fell back to the bottom.

“God what are you trying to say through this??” I asked.

“Take the steps as I lay them out for you, son.” I heard a voice reply.

You see God has plans for us and it’s his pleasure to lead us, His children, into those plans. He wants us to be patient though because He has His own timing for those plans and each step along the way for that matter.

When I came home I was looking everywhere I could look for a step to take towards this dream God put on my heart. And then out of nowhere he placed the first one in front of me and told me to go.

So here I am in CGA one step closer and exactly where God wants me during this time. Will you help me to follow God through these next steps that He is lining up? I’m currently training to be a long term missionary with Adventures in Missions and you can join me in bringing the Kingdom of God to earth by clicking ‘Support Me’ up at the top of the page and praying for strength, wisdom and guidance for me as I walk out God’s calling on my life.

P.S. So you know those 2 yellow butterflies I mentioned seeing in my vision?? Well the next week my team rented some motor bikes and went to go explore some waterfalls. To get to those waterfalls we had to drive down these really cool dirt roads that winded through hundreds of acres of COFFEE FIELDS. And as we drove through these coffee fields we were swarmed by HUNDREDS and THOUSANDS of those same little yellow butterflies God showed me in that vision. Coincidence? I think not. Can’t wait to see what God’s promises hold for me back in the coffee fields of Laos one day.
